Terms of Service

The short version: remodelmath is an informational tool. The calculator's estimates are not contractor quotes and are not professional advice. Use the estimates to budget and to evaluate quotes you receive — don't make final spending decisions on the calculator's output alone. The longer version follows.

Who we are

remodelmath.com (the "site") is operated by eView Technologies, Inc., a corporation organized under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States ("eView," "we," "us," or "our"). "remodelmath" is a brand of eView Technologies, Inc. and refers to the website, its calculators, and the related content.

Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using the site, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you don't agree, don't use the site. These Terms govern your use of the site and any of the calculators, content, or features it offers. We may update these Terms — see "Changes to these Terms" below.

Calculator outputs are estimates — not professional advice, not contractor quotes

The site's cost calculators produce estimates based on aggregated installer pricing data, public wage data (BLS OEWS), industry cost reports (NAHB), and our own modeling assumptions (described in detail on the methodology page for each calculator). Estimates are provided for informational and educational purposes only.

Calculator outputs are not:

  • contractor quotes or binding pricing offers,
  • professional advice from licensed contractors, architects, engineers, attorneys, accountants, or other professionals,
  • appraisals or valuations of property,
  • guarantees that any actual contractor will price your project within the range,
  • substitutes for a written quote from a licensed installer in your jurisdiction.

You are solely responsible for verifying any number with a licensed contractor before making spending decisions or entering into agreements. We are not liable for differences between the calculator's estimate and the actual cost of any project. If you proceed with a project based on a calculator estimate, you do so at your own discretion and risk.

No reliance. You agree not to rely solely on the calculator output for financial, contracting, investment, lending, insurance, or other consequential decisions. The calculator produces estimates for informational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional advice or licensed-contractor quotes. Reliance on calculator output as the sole basis for any consequential decision is at your own risk.

Not a licensed contractor

remodelmath is not a licensed contractor and does not perform, solicit, or offer to perform construction, installation, repair, or home-improvement services. We do not refer specific contractors, broker contractor relationships, or process contractor leads. We provide informational cost calculators and editorial content only. For licensed contractor verification or referrals in Virginia, consult the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR); in other states, consult the equivalent licensing authority for your jurisdiction.

Disclaimer of warranties

The site and the calculators are provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, eView disclaims all warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to:

  • warranties of accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any calculator output, data, or content,
  • warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose,
  • warranties of non-infringement,
  • warranties that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

We update underlying cost data quarterly, but real-world prices change continuously. Estimates may vary depending on project conditions, project scale, and regional contractor pricing — the calculator's range is a calibrated reference frame, not a guarantee. Real contractor quotes outside the range are not unusual and are not necessarily a flaw in the calculator. For the methodology that anchors the calculator's calibration assumptions, see the methodology page.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, eView, its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or use, arising out of or related to your use of the site or any reliance on the calculator's outputs, even if eView has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Where liability cannot be excluded by law, eView's aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to the site or these Terms shall not exceed one hundred US dollars ($100). This cap applies regardless of the legal theory of liability (contract, tort, statute, or otherwise).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Acceptable use

You may use the site for personal, non-commercial purposes consistent with these Terms. You agree not to:

  • use automated scraping tools, scrapers, bots, or similar to systematically download content from the site beyond standard browsing,
  • circumvent rate limits or access controls,
  • attempt to disrupt the site's normal operation (DDoS, vulnerability probing without authorization, etc.),
  • misrepresent the calculator's output (e.g., presenting a calculator estimate to a client or counterparty as a "professional cost analysis"),
  • use the site or its content to violate any applicable law,
  • copy, redistribute, or republish substantial portions of the content without permission, except as permitted by fair use.

Intellectual property

The site's content, design, calculators, methodology pages, and underlying data presentations are owned by eView Technologies, Inc. or its licensors and protected by US and international copyright and trademark laws. You may quote and link to the site under standard fair-use principles. For anything beyond fair use — including republishing significant portions of methodology content, embedding the calculators in a third-party site, or using "remodelmath" branding — contact us first.

Third-party links and references

The site links to third-party sources (BLS, NAHB, ICC, industry data aggregators) for transparency about methodology. We don't control those third parties and aren't responsible for their content, privacy practices, or accuracy. Linking to a third-party source isn't an endorsement of every claim on that source.

Termination

These Terms remain in effect while you use the site. You can stop using the site at any time. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the site (including individual calculators or pages) at any time, with or without notice. We may also restrict your access to the site if you materially violate these Terms — typically by emailing you first when contact information is available.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms when our practices change. The last-updated date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will also be summarized at the top of the page for at least 30 days after the change. Your continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Governing law and venue

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the site shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts of competent jurisdiction located in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

Nothing in these Terms prevents either party from seeking injunctive or equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect intellectual property rights or confidential information.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect, and the invalid provision will be deemed modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable.

Entire agreement

These Terms (together with the Privacy Policy, the Cookie Policy, and the Accessibility Statement) constitute the entire agreement between you and eView Technologies, Inc. regarding your use of the site and supersede any prior agreements between you and eView regarding the same subject matter.
